NBC Nightly News Features Belvidere
High School - November 19, 2008 (updated November 20, 2008)
For the greater part of the day on
November 19, Belvidere
High School experienced a flurry of video cameras, a production crew,
and a reporter. In what began as a story about the auto industry,
NBC Nightly News focused on local auto dealer
Wolf Chevrolet and how, despite a challenging economy, it continues to
support local programs through partnerships and donations. Don
Palmer and the automotive program at BHS received earlier this year a
$1,500 donation from Bill Wolf, and he and his dealership have been
instrumental in BHS becoming a member of the Automotive Youth Education
Services (AYES) National Program. To date, there are only six
schools state-wide with AYES membership status. Wolf Chevrolet
also donated $1,000 to Central Middle School to purchase books for its
library.

in the area. Ron is a volunteer coach for his son’s 8th grade football
team, is active in Belvidere Youth Baseball, and is a Unit Commissioner
for local Boy Scout Troop and Pack 141.
Mr. Ramos will fill the seat recently vacated by
Larry Cunningham until the April, 2009 election, at which time a
candidate will be elected by the voting public to a four-year term. He
will take the oath of office and be seated at the November 17 regular
Board of Education meeting.

During first period this morning, a large
number of students at Belvidere High School could be found eating
breakfast in the cafeteria, compliments of BHS. Approximately 325
students who have excelled in the classroom were recognized . . .

At the April, 2009 election, voters
within the boundaries of District #100 will be asked to select members
to the Board of Education . . .
