Reading: Students will read “The Stranger” this week.  They will also read one of three books during guided reading instruction: Finky’s Mysterious Spots, The Wisdom of the Wind, or The Mysterious Growing Moon.  Our reading skill this week: drawing conclusions.  Our reading strategy: reading ahead to monitor comprehension.

Social Studies: Students will review the material presented in Chapter 3 in preparation for a test.  The Chapter 3 Test is tentatively scheduled for Friday, January 9, 2009.

Spelling: Lesson 14 this week.  The test is scheduled for this Friday.

Note: I’ve asked the students to bring in a small Ziploc bag of candy as part of the present they will be giving to their second grade buddies.  If your child is unable to bring in a bag of treats, I will provide him/her with something to give to his/her buddy.  Please send the bags to school with your child no later than Thursday.  Thanks!

Have a wonderful break!
